Our store areas and workshops are filling up with part orders! The industry is really struggling to resolve issues in the supply chains which is extremely frustrating for our customers and us.
Before the Coronavirus disruption we would get complete deliveries of double glazed UPVC windows and doors within two weeks of ordering them. Aluminium window frames and bi-folds would take around four weeks and glass could take a number of days. Composite doors had a two week turnaround - which normally slipped to five weeks.
Things have certainly changed! We are working to a 8 - 10 week turnaround on UPVC windows and doors. But.... when the order is delivered to us it is rarely complete. We may order ten windows for a house and get nine, with a window held back because the manufacturers can't get hold of a specific hinge. Aluminium deliveries tend to be better but getting toughened glass is very delayed.
We can order 20 double glazed units and have 16 standard units turn up with four toughened DGU's to follow. Ordering composite doors is also problematic with a 10 week wait.
At Colourchange UPVC we supply to the trade and retail markets so we know that everyone is in the same situation, plenty of orders but frustrating delays and complicated work schedules. Things are slowly improving but we are told that the construction industry could be facing a further year of disruption.
